Who is Jaime Negrete Rodriguez?

I born the 8 of September of 1963, I am a Merchant Marine Officer, I have been at sea since 1982, Sailing five months by two of holidays, I am a happy married man, I met my loving wife while I was sailing to South Africa in 1988, we got married on a good day in March 23rd of 1989. Now we live in Chile, South America, in a little town called Belloto Norte, around 33ª South  near to Valparaiso (Main Port of the country).

Despite my time consuming job which keep me away from really enjoyable activities .  I feel as a keen amateur star observer, I think amateur Astronomer is too much for my lack of  acknowledge about the topic, but I am trying to solve this problem.

I must confess that I was attracted by the Astronomy from long time ago, but I started formally in 1998. with a "GALILEO", 3" reflector telescope (F/11, Altazimuth) which I bought in USA as an offer through TV, then of course, I wanted something bigger so I searched in the internet for a good one and I found "ORION" telescopes at good prices. I am truly thankful to Shari Coleman, a good friend of my wife living in Virginia, USA, she ordered and posted through "DHL" to Chile the Sky view deluxe, 6" reflector (f/4.9, in a equatorial mount), which has been my main piece of equipment since it arrived, and my last acquisition (February 2004), was the "Apex 90", a Matsutov-Cassegrain, also from "ORION", this last one is an investment for the future, since I am planning to "up-grade" to the new "MEADE" LXD75 Schmith-Cassegrain 8" and I will use the "Apex" as a guider telescope for Astrophotography. In this short period I also been increasing my set of very good accessories which make my stargazing more exciting and enjoyable. I invite you to have a look around my site.
